What we mean by sovereign.
There is no single sovereignty score. We document processing, storage, ownership and access as separate facts.
Our scope
This directory prioritises managed LLM inference APIs for Australian workloads without dedicated or reserved compute commitments. Usage billing, self-service access and contractual minimums are recorded separately. Dedicated compute may be covered for context, but is not the focus.
Profiles versus configurations
A service profile explains what to investigate. A model configuration identifies a provider, service, model/version, deployment type, processing boundary and access tier. Only configurations with official, region-specific evidence for Australian processing qualify for the AU processing documented filter. This describes documented processing; it does not certify the reader’s live deployment or contract.
Processing labels
- AU processing documented: official sources establish Australian inference for the named model, version and deployment. Account availability and feature-specific terms still need checking.
- Configuration dependent: the boundary changes with deployment, model or routing. This is not a verified Australian configuration.
- May process offshore: the documented arrangement allows processing outside Australia.
- AU processing unverified: the available evidence does not establish the boundary. This does not mean processing necessarily leaves Australia.
Evidence standards
Every material classification links to a source and a specific claim. Technical documentation and provider marketing assertions are labelled separately. A source review is not an independent audit, contractual guarantee or live API test. Latency, IP location and a successful API request do not prove the model’s processing location.
Record sources at claim level, including their scope and date. Where sources conflict, retain both, explain the conflict and keep the configuration out of AU processing documented results until resolved.
Storage and retention
Review prompts, outputs, files, caches, abuse-monitoring records, telemetry, backups and support access separately. No training on customer data does not mean no retention. Zero retention can have eligibility requirements and feature exceptions.
Prices and availability
Only publish prices with a source, currency, unit, model/version and review date. AUD conversions must identify the exchange-rate date. Unknown prices are left unpriced. “No reserved capacity” describes the service category and does not promise no other fees, deposits or account prerequisites.
Review and corrections
The current source records were reviewed on 9 November 2026. We plan monthly reviews of availability and commercial terms, plus reviews after material provider announcements. Automated link checks do not advance a claim’s review date. Material updates belong in the public change log.
Editorial independence
Made maintains the directory. Listings are not paid placements, and inclusion does not imply endorsement. Any future commercial relationship relevant to a listing should be disclosed on that listing. Sponsorship must not determine evidence labels or eligibility.
